Gratitude to Italy for continuous support for Serbia’s European path

Belgrade, 7 November 2025

Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović met today with Italian Minister for Relations with Parliament Luca Ciriani to discuss ways to further enhance relations between the two countries in areas significant for Serbia’s accession to the European Union.

Starović expressed gratitude to the Government of the Italian Republic for its continuous support for Serbia’s European path, which, in addition to political backing, also includes substantial development assistance.

The Minister of European Integration emphasised that the strategic commitment of the Republic of Serbia is to attain full membership in the European Union, adding that the technical and expert support provided by Italy is of exceptional importance for accelerating the reforms leading to that goal.

Starović also noted that the European Commission’s Serbia Report 2025 serves as a roadmap for achieving faster progress in that direction.

The two officials agreed to continue joint work on projects contributing to Serbia’s European perspective, as well as on strengthening political and economic bilateral relations between the two countries.

As stated, these efforts contribute to the stability and development of the entire Western Balkans region and to the more successful implementation of the European Union’s enlargement policy.
