Kozarev welcomed Ambassador Colgan and expressed his satisfaction with the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Ireland in Belgrade, offering all technical and logistical assistance necessary for its functioning.
The Secretary General expressed his belief that this diplomatic mission will contribute to improving comprehensive cooperation between Serbia and Ireland and strengthening contacts between friendly peoples.
The interlocutors agreed that a good incentive to strengthen ties would be a more intensive political dialogue and discussed plans for concrete steps in that direction.
Speaking about membership in the European Union as a strategic commitment and priority of our foreign policy, Kozarev thanked Ambassador Colgan for the support that Serbia receives from Ireland and informed him about the fulfilled conditions and the challenges in the negotiations that our country is facing.
Considering that Ireland will chair the Council of the EU in the second half of 2026, the interlocutors discussed the topic of cooperation with the countries of the Western Balkans and EU enlargement, which Ambassador Colgan confirmed will be high on the agenda of their presidency.
Kozarev and Colgan also discussed the most current regional and international topics, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
