Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, participated today in London at the Western Balkans Summit within the Berlin Process, which brought together leaders of the Western Balkans and representatives of the European Union.
In his address, Macut expressed his gratitude to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for organising the meeting and emphasised the importance of the Berlin Process for strengthening regional cooperation and the European future of the region.
He stressed that Serbia actively contributes to all initiatives that lead to economic growth, stability and better connectivity of the countries of the region, and that Serbia’s European path is a path of values, development and security.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the reforms implemented by Serbia are aimed at improving institutions, the rule of law and economic progress, and particularly highlighted the importance of joint infrastructure and energy projects that contribute to a better life for citizens and stability in the region.
Within the framework of the Summit, Macut held several bilateral talks – with the host of the meeting, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.
During the conversation with Prime Minister Plenković, Croatia showed readiness, in cooperation with partners, to assist Serbia in resolving the issue of oil supply through the company Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS), in order to prevent energy disruptions.
The Prime Minister stated that Serbia remains a reliable and active partner within the Berlin Process and that it will continue to build relations of cooperation and trust with all countries in the region and the European Union.
