Addressing journalists in front of Lancaster House in London, Macut said that migration in Europe was discussed, on which the United Kingdom placed special emphasis, and also presented proposals for solving the challenges associated with migratory movements.
According to him, the UK officials praised the very intensive activity of Serbia in cooperation with Hungary in the field of migration management in our region.
He added that the second part of the plenary discussion was dedicated to economic topics, with a special focus on investments in the Western Balkan countries.
At the summit, Serbia presented a proposal to establish a free roaming zone that would cover the whole of Europe, that is, our entire region, which would significantly make life easier for citizens, the Prime Minister noted.
He also added that Serbia proposed concluding an agreement on the joint representation of non-EU countries in the field of transport.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the Western Balkan countries and the United Kingdom were invited to join a joint proposal that would be sent to the European Commission, which would allow transport organisations, carriers, to measure time spent in the Schengen zone, rather than days.
During the summit, discussions were also held on other pressing issues for the region, he said, adding that he had informally spoken with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani, as well as Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and North Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.
The Prime Minister stressed that the German Chancellor accepted an invitation to visit Serbia, which was recently extended to him by President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić.
As part of the summit, Macut also spoke with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who, he said, has shown openness and readiness for cooperation.
Great Britain pays great attention to migratory movements and Prime Minister Starmer was extremely interested in discussions on this topic, as well as other aspects of cooperation, the Prime Minister emphasised.
He added that he extended an invitation to the British Prime Minister for an official visit to Serbia, which, he said, was well received.
Speaking about his conversation with Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković, the Prime Minister said that the topic of the meeting was the issue of sanctions against the NIS company and the energy situation in Serbia, with the Croatian Prime Minister expressing his readiness to continue cooperation related to the supply of energy to us.
During the summit, a meeting was also held with Deputy Prime Minister of Italy Tajani, which, he assessed, was extremely constructive.
