The Ministry of the Interior announced that today, at around 10:16, directly in front of the House of the National Assembly at Nikola Pašić Square, V. A. (born 1955), who was not a participant in the gathering outside the building, entered one of the tents and fired multiple shots from a firearm in the direction of M. B. (born 1968).

V. A. injured M. B. in the leg, and then deliberately started a fire in the tent, resulting in an explosion of a small gas cylinder.
The fire was contained and extinguished, and M. B. was treated at the Emergency Centre, while the police quickly subdued and arrested V. A.
There were no weapons or ammunition in the set-on-fire tent, except for those brought in by the suspect.
Due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offences of attempted murder, illegal possession, carrying and trafficking of weapons and explosives and causing public danger, the suspect has been detained for up to 48 hours and will be brought before the competent prosecutor’s office with a criminal complaint.
