Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met today with gold medal winners of the Rowing World Cup for seniors in Eton in the coxed pair category Nikola Stojic, Jovan Popovic and Ivan Ninkovic, who were accompanied by coach Nebojsa Ilic and president of the Serbian Rowing Association Danko Djunic.

Kostunica congratulated the Serbian rowers and pointed out that Serbia is proud of their success. The gold medal they won in Eton is a strong impetus for the development of Serbian sport and will motive other players to represent Serbia in the best possible manner, said the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister also said he is aware that our top rowers train in difficult conditions. He however presented the Serbian government’s plans to promote sporting achievement and promised that the government will pay them €56,250 as an award for this medal.
The rowers thanked Kostunica and promised that this is one in a series of successes for Serbian rowing.
Serbian Minister of Education and Sport Slobodan Vuksanovic, Director of the Sport Administration Aleksandar Sostar and president of the Serbian Olympic Committee Ivan Curkovic also attended the reception.
