Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić spoke today with Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Serbia Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko about the most important topics of bilateral cooperation, regional and geopolitical challenges.
Regarding the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and the difficult position of Serbs and other non-Albanians, Đurić said that he informs all interlocutors in detail about the unilateral and escalating moves of the Priština authorities, which are aimed at intimidating and making life difficult for Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, and that he expects UNMIK and other international organisations to help and encourage Serbs to participate in the upcoming elections and regain control over local institutions to the greatest extent possible.
The Serbian Foreign Minister stressed the need for stronger and more direct engagement of the international community in maintaining security, as well as protecting the rights and freedoms of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.
Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko handed over to Minister Đurić a letter from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in which he thanked the Serbian representatives for their participation in the Intervision 2025 International Music Contest, which was organised last month in Novoivanovskoye near Moscow, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
