Three persons taken into custody due to abuse of office

The Serbian Ministry of Interior stated today that police officials in the Criminal Police Department in Smederevo have taken three persons into custody. Those arrested are employed in the Market Inspection Sector in Smederevo in the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Services.
The three persons taken into custody are head of the section of republic market inspection for the Danube region district Rade Vasovic, head of the section of republic market inspection for Smederevo Zoran Munic, and market inspector at the section for Smederevo Vladimir Pavlovic. They were arrested under suspicion of committing several criminal acts concerning abuse of office.
The suspects are accused of defrauding the Serbian budget to the amount of 10,403.332 dinars, by selling confiscated goods in violating regulations of procedure concerning confiscated goods.
Smederevo police continue to investigate to establish all facts and circumstances, and identification of persons involved in this case. Suspects will be brought before an investigating judge in the Smederevo District Court, reads the statement.
