The protocol of intent on establishing a joint border crossing and the construction of a bridge on the border crossing Raca was signed by Serbian Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic and Minister of Transport and Communications of Republika Srpska Nedeljko Cubrilovic, who said construction will begin this autumn, and it is expected that works will finish next year.
The Serbian Prime Minister said following the meeting between the two delegations that very soon a new agreement should be signed on special parallel relations between Republika Srpska and Serbia, allowed by the Dayton Peace Agreement which must be respected in full, and according to which Bosnia-Herzegovina consists of two entities.
Serbia upholds respect of international agreements and international law. It opposes every one-sided and selective interpretation of international documents, said Kostunica.
Kostunica stressed that in the same way, when it comes to the issue of finding a solution for the future status of Kosovo-Metohija, the UN SC Resolution 1244 and the Charter of the UN should be respected in full, guaranteeing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia, with substantial autonomy for Kosovo-Metohija.
Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik said following the signing ceremony that this project is important also as a beginning of concrete realisation of earlier agreements on cooperation between the governments of Serbia and Republika Srpska.
The Serbian delegation included Serbian Minister of Interior Dragan Jocic, Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Radomir Naumov and Serbian Minister of Religion Milan Radulovic.
The ceremony was attended by several thousand residents of Bijeljina and villages in Semberija, and inhabitants of neighbouring areas in Srem.
