Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today with Secretary General of the Central European Initiative (CEI) Franco Dal Mas to discuss the goals and priorities of Serbia’s presidency of this organisation.
Đurić underlined that Serbia actively participates in the work of CEI, stressing the importance of this organisation for strengthening regional cooperation, deepening good-neighbourly relations and building strong partnerships among the countries of the region.
He stated that CEI represents a good platform for jointly advancing infrastructural and economic connectivity, as well as for collective efforts in safeguarding stability and security in Europe and beyond.
The meeting also covered the presidency’s priorities, such as infrastructural and institutional connectivity, investment in new technologies, including artificial intelligence and biotechnology, as well as enhancing cooperation with Italy, the host country of the CEI Secretariat.
The head of Serbian diplomacy announced that Serbia will in November host two important events – the CEI Parliamentary Assembly and an interministerial meeting on labour migration.
He added that Serbia will also host the Annual Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of CEI Member States, which will mark the conclusion of Serbia’s presidency and the handover of duties to the next presiding country.
The Minister emphasised that by taking over the presidency in 2025, Serbia demonstrated its consistent commitment to regional connectivity and cooperation within CEI, as confirmed by the results achieved so far and its contribution to the common goals.
