The Ministry of the Interior announced today that officers of the Criminal Police Directorate and the Service for Combating Organised Crime (SBPOK) took part in an international operation in July which led to the seizure of 4.8 tonnes of cocaine in French territorial waters off Martinique.

The operation was carried out in cooperation with US and UK police and military agencies – the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF-S) and the UK National Crime Agency (NCA).
A total of 4,841 kilograms of cocaine were discovered on board the vessel Galexyr following a stop and search. Eleven individuals were on board, mostly Croatian and Montenegrin nationals, as well as V. Đ. (born in 1984), a citizen of the Republic of Serbia, who was detained and remains in custody.
The vessel interception was coordinated by the Maritime Analysis and Operation Centre – Narcotics (MAOC-N) and the French Navy, while in the investigation itself the Serbian team highlighted excellent cooperation with the Croatian police and Europol.
SBPOK officers, in cooperation with partner services, continue their ongoing fight against all forms of organised crime, both in Serbia and across Europe and other parts of the world.
