Acting Assistant Minister of the Interior and Head of the Sector for Emergency Management Luka Čaušić stated today, after visiting the area threatened by the fire in the village of Kostol in Kladovo, that the blaze had engulfed more than 100 hectares of grass and low vegetation, but that firefighters and rescuers, together with other protection and rescue forces, had managed to save about a dozen houses.

Čaušić emphasised that the most important thing is that there were no casualties, noting that one auxiliary building had burned down and that no major material damage has been recorded so far.
According to him, over the past 24 hours, 181 fires have been recorded in the territory of Serbia, with all capacities of the Sector for Emergency Management, together with all protection and rescue forces, continuously deployed in the field.
Members of the Sector, in cooperation with the Helicopter Unit of the Ministry of the Interior, voluntary firefighting associations, industrial units and local self-governments, are fully engaged and manage to extinguish all fires in record time, the Assistant Minister emphasised.
