Mr Bećirović, whose public statements are often aimed at inflaming political tensions and deepening divisions, has neither the political nor moral credibility to lecture Serbia.
The Republic of Serbia consistently respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as its constitutional order based on the Dayton Peace Agreement, of which Serbia is a signatory and guarantor.
Accordingly, Serbia has the right, but also an international obligation, to develop special parallel relations with Republika Srpska, which is clearly stipulated in the Dayton Agreement itself.
Challenging these relations represents a direct attack on the principles of the Dayton Agreement and an attempt at its political revisionism.
The Ministry recalls that the politicisation of bilateral relations and their instrumentalisation for daily political purposes do not contribute to peace, stability or cooperation in the region.
As a country firmly committed to preserving regional peace and cooperation, Serbia remains consistent with the policy of stability, mutual respect and observance of international agreements, the statement said.
