Dačić and Toshkovski emphasised that the signing of this protocol marks the official beginning of implementation of the integrated border check system, the so-called “one stop control”, which will simplify and speed up traffic and avoid unnecessary detention of passengers at the borders.
The Deputy Prime Minister underlined that the border control system aims to simplify the overall border check procedures, which will authorise police officers of one country to perform, in addition to the entry border control of their own country, the exit border control of the neighbouring country.
According to him, the unnecessary detention of travellers at the exit will thus be avoided.
Dačić said that the cooperation between the Ministries of the Interior of the two countries is extremely good and that there is a mutual interest in continuing it, not only through police cooperation, but also through cooperation in the field of emergency situations.
He also pointed to the good results of the two police forces in the fight against irregular migration, as in the first six months a decrease in these illegal crossings by 26 percent was recorded, compared to the same period last year.
