The Serbian Ministry of Diaspora stated today that on July 9 a monument to Nikola Tesla will be unveiled near the Niagara Falls in the USA.
The idea of raising this monument was initiated by the Serbian Orthodox Church School in the parish of St. George in Niagara. A competition was held for the ideal monument to Nikola Tesla in November 2004, which was won by Canadian sculptor Les Drysdale.
The selected design presents a life size sculpture of Nikola Tesla in the 39th year of his life, as he stands upon an alternate current motor.
The sculpture will face the Niagara Falls, where the first hydroelectric power station is placed in which more than a hundred year old turbines made by Tesla are still working.
Owing to the cooperation between the Ministry of Diaspora and the Canadian company Robson Technologies, live transmission of the unveiling will be available at the Ministry’s official website at the address
www.mzd.sr.gov.yu (windows media player is needed for video streaming and minimum ADSL connection to the internet).
The First Channel of Radio-Television Serbia will also present the live transmission of the unveiling ceremony from 6 pm.
