Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, stated today at the Fifth THINK TANK Conference that Serbia has developed one of the most intensive and dynamic partnerships with China in this part of Europe over the past 10 years.
Speaking at the conference, organised by the Belt and Road Institute and the Government of Serbia, Macut emphasised that this cooperation received a new impetus with the signing of the Joint Statement on Deepening and Elevating the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Building a Serbia-China Community with a Shared Future in the New Era, in May 2024.
He said that this is the only such document in Europe at present, and that in the past 12 months, more than 30 projects have been implemented in the fields of infrastructure, industry, education and innovation.
The Prime Minister recalled that this year marks the 70th anniversary of cooperation between the peoples of the two countries, underlining that Serbia fully shares all values with China regarding the respect for international law.
Serbia recognises One China, the Prime Minister stressed, noting that on 1 July, the Free Trade Agreement with China entered into force, making Serbia the first country in this part of Europe with duty-free exports to China.
According to him, this is the result of a strategy based on openness, vision and, most importantly, the ironclad friendship that the two countries have fostered for decades.
