Minister without portfolio in charge of reconciliation, regional cooperation and social stability Usame Zukorlić met today, as part of his official visit to the Syrian Arab Republic, with the country’s President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
During the meeting, the current relations between the two countries were discussed, with both sides expressing their readiness to renew and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Zukorlić highlighted the importance of continuous political dialogue and presented concrete models of cooperation through which Serbia can contribute to the process of Syria’s reconstruction - especially in the areas of infrastructure, education, healthcare and economy.
On that occasion, the Minister also handed over to the President of Syria a personal letter from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, which conveyed key messages of goodwill and readiness to strengthen interstate cooperation.
Al-Sharaa welcomed the Serbian delegation and expressed gratitude for the support provided, emphasising that the renewal of international relations on the principles of mutual respect, exchange of experiences and joint development is of key importance for Syria.
The meeting was assessed as a constructive and symbolically important step towards re-establishing strong and friendly relations between Serbia and Syria.
