Serbia supports establishment of common regional economic market

Belgrade, 3 June 2025

Minister of Foreign Marko Đurić met today with the newly appointed Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Amer Kapetanović, to discuss the advancement of regional integration and joint activities, as well as current initiatives within the organisation.

Đurić noted that Serbia is a sincere and constructive partner within the Council, firmly committed to building an environment that reflects the aspirations of the region’s peoples, an environment based on cooperation and friendship, free from barriers and administrative obstacles that disrupt daily life, separate families and hinder business operations.

The Minister stressed that Serbia strongly supports the establishment of a common regional economic market, a model that would enable significantly faster economic growth and facilitate access to the European market.

The meeting also addressed topics such as the green transition, digital integration, and infrastructure projects, as well as the opportunities presented by the upcoming Specialised Expo 2027 exhibition, particularly in the context of connecting the region’s economies.

The head of Serbian diplomacy pointed out that cooperation between the Regional Cooperation Council and the European Union is of key importance, especially in light of European integration, which should remain a guiding principle in the Council’s political action.
