Cooperation with France of strategic importance for Serbia

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today with Special Envoy of the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs for the Western Balkans René Troccaz to discuss the current situation in Serbia and the region, as well as Serbia’s European integration process.

Đurić expressed his gratitude to France and President Emmanuel Macron for their consistent and principled support of Serbia in its efforts towards full European Union membership.

The head of Serbian diplomacy emphasised that cooperation with France is of strategic importance for Serbia, and that the shared vision of a European future for the region is the foundation of stability and development.

Regarding the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, he informed the Special Envoy in detail about the latest wave of unilateral and provocative actions undertaken by the provisional institutions in Priština.

Đurić pointed out that serious and frequent violations of the human rights of the Serb population are occurring almost daily and pose a significant challenge to the preservation of peace and stability, both in the province and the wider region.

Given the ongoing improvement in relations between Serbia and France – greatly supported by the good relations between the two presidents – the Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs extended an invitation to the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs to visit Serbia, with the aim of continuing and strengthening the ongoing dialogue between the two countries, according to the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
