Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović reiterated today that Serbia’s accession to the European Union is the country’s foreign policy priority and that the current Serbian government is firmly committed to this process.
During a meeting with representatives of the Central European Initiative (CEI) countries, Starović noted that the accession process has been ongoing for a very long time, but that there is now renewed momentum and a desire for EU enlargement.
He recalled that Serbia has been waiting for three and a half years to open negotiations on Cluster 3 and called on CEI member states to help unblock this process.
The Minister emphasised that the European Commission has issued a positive recommendation for the opening of this cluster, noting that it is important for this to happen in July in order to preserve the credibility of the EU enlargement process.
