Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica today met with Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and EU Council President Ursula Plassnik and presented the solution for the future status of Kosovo-Metohija, contained in the Platform of the Serbian negotiating team.
Kostunica stressed that full partnership between Serbia and the EU is necessary in order to find a European and lasting solution for Kosovo-Metohija.
The Serbian Prime Minister said that European experience must be taken into account when resolving such issues, which means determining the right measure of autonomy and self-government for Kosovo-Metohija.
Kostunica pointed out that Serbia wants to find a compromise solution in line with the principles of international law and reiterated that substantial autonomy represents a lasting, sustainable and a truly compromise solution for the Serbian southern province.
The two officials agreed that it is especially important that Serbia continue negotiations with the EU on the stabilisation and association agreement.
The preparation of the action plan for concluding cooperation with the Hague tribunal was also touched on.
