Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Academician Bela Balint met today with Ambassador of Japan to Serbia Akira Imamura to discuss the continuation of successful cooperation between the two countries, Japan’s support for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Serbia, and the enhancement of the innovation system through the Next INnovation with JApan (NINJA) programme.

This initiative aims to support start-ups in a phase of rapid growth that seek to expand into new markets in Asia and is of great importance for the future of entrepreneurship in Serbia.
Several major Japanese companies already operate in Serbia, playing a key role in various sectors of the economy, including manufacturing, technology, research and development.
In February 2023, the Government of the Republic of Serbia signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Takeda, aimed at supporting the future BIO4 Campus.
