Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović stated today that Italy is one of Serbia’s most important and reliable partners, both in economic cooperation and in the European integration process.
At a meeting held at the Italian embassy in Belgrade, Starović emphasised the importance of cooperation with the Central European Initiative (CEI) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), particularly through the Know-how Exchange Programme (KEP), which he noted represents a concrete form of solidarity and support for Serbia.
The KEP has multifold significance for Serbia – from supporting harmonisation with European standards, through strengthening institutional capacities to encouraging regional cooperation and modernisation of the public sector, the Minister said.
He particularly pointed out projects such as the programming of EU cohesion policy, the UrbaNEX project and the regional Master in Public Procurement Management programme, emphasising that all of them contribute to Serbia’s better preparedness for EU membership.
Starović expressed his gratitude to the Government of Italy, the CEI Fund and the EBRD for their continued support, confident that joint initiatives will continue to bring Serbia and the entire region closer to the European Union.
