At the United Nations in New York, where she participated in the panel “Supporting the Mental Health of All Women and Girls”, Macura presented research that also shows that a generational chain of silence of women victims of violence has been established over time.
She stated that the reasons for silence about violence are fear, stigma, economic dependence and distrust, and assessed that ending such practices requires a reaction from the entire society.
The task is certainly not easy, but we must motivate victims of violence to speak out, concluded Macura, pointing to the great interest of the participants of the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women in this topic.
