Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić today sent his condolences over the death of David Vujić, a great scientist and prominent member of the Serbian diaspora, to his family and friends.
Đurić emphasised that David Vujić was a distinguished and respected engineer and one of seven Serbian scientists who were part of the NASA team responsible for the historic success of the Apollo 11 mission. His contribution to world science and space exploration will forever remain inscribed in history.
He stated that Vujić was one of many Serbs who built their knowledge and talent into the foundations of American society and progress, and his work will remain a permanent link connecting Serbia and the United States.
His work inspired generations of young scientists and engineers, proving that talent and dedication can push the boundaries of what is possible, Đurić said.
The Serbian Foreign Minister said that Vujić will also be remembered as a man who did not forget his people when they were experiencing difficult moments in their recent history, helping those in need after the NATO aggression on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1999.
His memory will continue to live on through the achievements he left as a legacy for future generations and through the nurturing of the values he stood for. May he be eternally glorified and thanked, the Minister said.
