Prime Minister Miloš Vučević said today that the state is carefully monitoring the situation with river water levels in the countries of Central Europe, adding that the water level in Serbia is expected to peak between 24 and 26 of September.
Following a session of the Emergency Situations Team at the Palace of Serbia, Vučević said that no dramatic situations are expected in Serbia, noting that there is no room for panic.
The Prime Minister said that the assessment of water management companies Srbijavode and Vode Vojvodine is that the peak will last for seven days.
He noted that the situation will be somewhat more challenging on the upper part of the Danube through Serbia, from Bezdan to Slankamen, while expert state services do not expect major problems from Slankamen downstream towards Belgrade and Đerdap.
However, developments will need to be carefully monitored, particularly in the upper reaches of the Danube entering Serbia, Vučević said, repeating that the water level will be somewhat higher on that river. The situation with the Sava river will be somewhat more challenging near Šabac, he noted.
