Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begović met today with Secretary General of the International Bureau of Exhibitions (Bureau International des Expositions - BIE) Dimitri Kerkentzes.
During the meeting, Nenad Paunović, an adviser to Serbian parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić, presented the BIO4 campus construction project.
Kerkentzes expressed his satisfaction with the Serbian government’s initiative to expand infrastructure alongside hosting the EXPO2027 exhibition, including through the construction of the BIO4 campus as a new bioeconomic centre in Europe.
During the meeting, he also provided guidance on organising EXPO2027, especially in the context of the content that should be presented in the best possible way to Serbian and international audiences.
Kerkentzes said that during his visit to Serbia, he was able to see the headway being made in preparations for the event, as well how the construction work is progressing.
The BIE Secretary General noted that what he witnessed was a very good and important step in the establishment of the Republic of Serbia as an exhibition organizer.
Begović pointed out that innovations that change the world and humanity have been and will be presented at all previous and future EXPO exhibitions, which is why the exhibition itself is a great opportunity for Serbia, its science, and its innovators and entrepreneurs to establish much stronger connections with the world and present Serbia as a country of creativity and innovation.
