Interior ministry legally obliged to offer assistance to RRA

The Serbian Ministry of Interior stated that last night it received a request from the Serbian Broadcasting Agency (RRA) that police should assist in the implementation of the RRA's decision to temporarily suspend the broadcasting of the BK television.
Since the RRA is an independent body elected by Serbian parliament, the Ministry of Interior was under legal obligation to offer assistance in the implementation of the decision, reads the statement.
The ministry is not entitled to make any decisions concerning the media because that is completely outside its jurisdiction. Assistance during the implementation of the RRA's decision was provided in a professional manner and entirely in line with the law, concludes the statement.
