Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić spoke today with Head of the United Nations Office in Belgrade Mari Yamashita, pointing out that our country has long-standing good cooperation with that office.
Speaking about the relations between Belgrade and Pristina, Đurić emphasised that Serbia highly values the work of that office, especially considering that it represents the main channel of communication with the UN Mission in Kosovo and Metohija.
The head of Serbian diplomacy pointed out that the goal of the unilateral moves of Kurti's policy is the complete emigration of Serbs from the area of Kosovo and Metohija, where there been no return of internally displaced persons to their centuries-old hearths, adding that in the previous year, due to the escalation of pressure from Pristina, the area an alarming number of Serbs left our southern province.
According to him, it is of particular importance for Serbia to consider the Kosovo and Metohija issue in the UN Security Council, in accordance with Resolution 1244, so that both the Security Council and the international community are regularly informed about the situation on the ground, the political and security situation.
The Minister said that Serbia remains committed to dialogue and that it will always be a constructive partner in the process of normalising relations, as well as that it will continue to advocate for peace and stability in the region.
