After the meeting, Mali expressed his satisfaction with the way the construction at the EXPO site is proceeding for now, but also with the company EXPO 2027, which was founded by the state and in which a large number of young people are already working.
According to him, this specialised exhibition, in which between 120 and 140 countries of the world are expected to participate, is the biggest development opportunity for Serbia, an event that will completely change Belgrade, Surčin, and our country.
He said that more than three million visitors, as expected, but also the construction of a new National Stadium and a new fairground, as well as an aquatic center and residential buildings, will push our economy forward, which means more money for investments in infrastructure, to increase salaries and pension.
The First Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the "Serbia 2027" Plan, of which EXPO is an integral part, includes 323 projects in all parts of Serbia, stressing that we still have a lot to do until 1 December 2026, when we will hand over the keys to the pavilion to the participating countries.
Mali said that in November 2024, at the BIE General Assembly, Serbia will receive official recognition, when the BIE flag will be handed over to us, which will mean that we will be able to officially invite countries to participate in EXPO 2027.
He expressed his gratitude to Kerkentzes for all the help provided so far, and said that Serbia will use the next 3.5 years in the right way.
Kerkentzes said that he was impressed by the progress made in less than a year, and added that the countries are eagerly awaiting their arrival in Belgrade, and that the enthusiasm is huge.
According to him, BIE will share its expertise with Serbia and Serbia can count on all the help it needs.
