Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Jelena Tanaskovic and Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Serbia Ambassador Emanuele Giaufret signed today in the government of Serbia the Contract for the construction of a system for the collection and purification of waste water in Sokobanja.

After signing the document, Tanaskovic said that the contracted amount of the works is €12.4 million, of which the EU provides €6.3 million, and Serbia from the budget €6.1 million.
According to her, the project includes the reconstruction and construction of the sewage network and the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant.
In this way, wastewater treatment for the wider area of Sokobanja municipality will be ensured, and therefore full compliance with the relevant national legislation, as well as EU directives in this area, the minister pointed out.
The project "Construction of System for Collection and Purification of Wastewater in the Municipality of Sokobanja" is financed from the IPA 2020 programme.
