At a meeting of the World Health Organisation's (WHO) Standing Committee for Europe, held today and yesterday in Copenhagen, it was decided that the next annual session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe be held in September 2007 in Belgrade.
The Serbian Ministry of Health stated that the decision is yet to be confirmed at this year's session due to be held in September in Copenhagen.
In sessions of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe 52 delegations from all member countries take part, headed by their health ministers.
This unanimous decision was made by the nine Members of the Standing Committee for Europe, whose member from 2005 and until 2008 is Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic. It represents an important recognition of Serbia and its health service, because this is the first time in its 60 year long history that the WHO organises such an important event in Serbia.
