Minister of Health Danica Grujicic today laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new diagnostic and research facility with a laboratory of the third level of biological safety (BSL-3) within the Torlak Institute for Virology, Vaccines and Serums.

Grujicic, who laid the foundation stone together with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Milos Vucevic, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic and President of the Provisional Authority of Belgrade Aleksandar Sapic, said that this would strengthen the foundations of the state's independence in the fight against infectious diseases.
She explained that the new laboratory, as well as the existing Torlak diagnostic laboratories, which will be located in 4,000 square meters, will provide an answer to all challenges related to the fight against diseases and epidemics and will help to restore citizens' trust in the institute's vaccine.
