Prime Minister Ana Brnabic awarded the "Open Balkan Wine Trophy 2023" wine trophies at the Second International Wine Fair "Wine Vision by Open Balkans" tonight at the Belgrade Fair.
During the award ceremony, Brnabic said that the Serbian government will continue to support winemakers, because the budget for agriculture next year will be at an all-time high and will amount to RSD 119 billion.
The Serbian government will continue to support you in this, with additional financial resources and additional incentives. Out of RSD 119 billion, which will be the budget for agriculture in 2024, significant funds will go to winemakers, winegrowers and brandy producers, Brnabic said.
The Prime Minister assessed that this fair presented a different vision of the Balkans for the second time.
“Wine Vision by Open Balkans” combines beautiful tradition, gastronomy, good values and wine. If it is true that there is truth in wine, then for this region of ours it is an indication that we can share a common vision and that we can have a different, more positive future than what we had in the past. This is why this fair is symbolically extremely important too, the Prime Minister pointed out.
She thanked the organisers of the fair, winemakers and winegrowers.
I also want to thank our friends from North Macedonia who also worked hard, I also want to thank all those from Albania who are present here this year as well. And I also want to thank all winemakers, winegrowers, but also all brandy producers. I want to thank you for your courage, vision and ambition to compete with the best of Europe and the world. Because that ambition and that vision is what drives us, she said.
The Second International Wine Fair "Wine Vision by Open Balkans" opened on 16 November at the Belgrade Fair and will last until 19 November.
The fair is being held under the auspices of the governments of Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania, and as part of the "Open Balkans" initiative.
During the four days of the “Wine Vision by Open Balkans”, Belgrade gathered more than 600 exhibitors from numerous wineries, distilleries, gastronomic companies from more than 28 countries, which is twice as many exhibitors as last year.
