Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic spoke today with Deputy Undersecretary for International Trade of the United States of America Diane Farrell about improving cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy.
Djedovic Handanovic pointed out that Serbia wants to decarbonise its energy sector by 2050, adding that in the next ten years the energy industry needs investments in the amount of approximately €15 billion.
She stated that the strategic documents, which are in the process of being adopted, define directions and plans for how the energy sector will develop in the coming decades.
According to her, priority projects have been defined in all areas that include a combination of public and private sector investments, in order to realize the strategic goal – energy security at the lowest price for citizens and the economy.
Farrell congratulated on the efficient implementation of the Serbia-Bulgaria gas interconnector construction project, stressing that the diversification of gas supply is important for energy security and predictability for the economy.
She conveyed the interest of American companies in investing in Serbia’s energy sector.
