On the plateau in front of the building of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Brnabic expressed her gratitude to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Serbia for their cooperation and help in order to make the problems of people with disabilities even more visible.
I think that social inclusion and equality of all are among the most important things that a successful country can nurture, she underlined.
According to her, a specialised vehicle is a small thing in every sense, but it is important to remind everyone that we must work on such things because people with disabilities are an important part of our society.
The Prime Minister recalled that the project of digitalisation has provided significant things, such as the system for issuing electronic parking cards, that people with disabilities do not have to come to issuing facilities every year and prove their disability, and that an application for the deaf and hard of hearing has been developed with the help of which these people can send SMS messages and carry out conversations.
Also, earlier this year a primer was created for the first grade of elementary school for the deaf and hard of hearing, she said.
We are trying to ensure that all new infrastructure projects and renovations of buildings are such that people with disabilities have adequate access, Brnabic pointed out and added that the first pilot project is Sijarinska Banja spa, which after complete reconstruction will be accessible for people with disabilities and an example for other spas.
Brnabic also pointed out that people with disabilities have become an important segment of the growth of the domestic IT sector.
She explained that the IT sector is an area where there are no obstacles for people, such as members of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, to obtain training and work independently, assessing that people with disabilities fit fantastically into this fastest growing sector of our economy.
Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret said that he is extremely proud of everything that the Union has done and continues to do for Serbia and its citizens.
He recalled that in the past five years, the EU allocated €115 million for social inclusion alone, which is one of our important goals, as well as that of the government of Serbia.
