The Ministry of the Interior announced that members of the Department for Emergency Situations of that Ministry arrived tonight at the base of operations at the airport "Macedonia" in the vicinity of Thessaloniki, Greece, from where they will be further assigned to locations fires where their help will be needed.

Head of the Directorate for Fire and Rescue Units of the Sector for Emergency Situations Davor Vidovic said that the team consists of 38 members and 14 vehicles.
During the morning, meetings were held with representatives of the relevant ministries and civil protection, where it was agreed that the team would initially be stationed at this location, where they would assist domestic and international forces in extinguishing fires in the territory of the entire Northern Greece.
It was also agreed that the team can be sent to any part of Greece where they will help their colleagues in their further work, Vidovic said.
A red weather alert is still in force on the territory of Northern Greece, and the terrain configuration and strong wind create conditions for a complex situation.
The Serbian rescue team is on alert and ready to go to other locations immediately, if required by the Greek authorities, and provide assistance in extinguishing the fire.
