Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today that she spoke with high-ranking officials of the European Union in Brussels about six topics, one of which was the situation in Kosovo and Metohija.
In a statement to journalists, after the panel "YES, BUT..: Vision of the future of Serbia in the European Union", Brnabic said that everyone in the Union is concerned about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, noting that they understand Serbia's efforts to preserve, despite constant provocations, peace and stability.
Stability is in our vital interest and I hope for cooperation with our partners, Brnabic said, expressing her gratitude to the President of Serbia for taking the responsibility and the burden on himself and for giving the government space to deal with some other matters that are economically vital, from eurointegration to everything else.
According to her, apart from Kosovo and Metohija and regional stability, she also discussed European integration with the EU representatives, for which she said that Serbia will do its best to open Cluster 3 by the end of the year, which is related to economic growth and development, the rule of law, energy and energy transition.
The Prime Minister said that additional meetings have been arranged in the coming period, and that Serbia will receive a new progress report in October or November.
We also discussed alignment with the common foreign and security policy and the question of when we will introduce sanctions against Russia. I explained our position and that we aligned ourselves with the values, because we condemned the aggression, but that there are reasons why we do not want to introduce those sanctions. That chapter in our negotiations has not been opened, nor is it required of us in the negotiations, the Prime Minister said and explained that Serbia's policy is gradually being harmonised with EU policy in the negotiation process.
