Vucic announced that from 1 September, the salaries of employees in education will be increased by 5.5%, and from 1 December or from 1 January of the following year, again by another 10%, which makes a total increase of about 16%.
According to him, nurses and medical technicians, a total of 59,128 of them, will receive a 5.5% salary increase from 1 September and an additional 10% in December or January.
Vucic also said that from 1 October, pensions will be increased by 5.5%, and from 1 January 2024, by an additional 14.6%, so that the cumulative increase from the beginning of last year will amount to about 44%.
He also announced that from 9 June, "Sava" bread will be cheaper and will cost RSD 54.
Also, Vucic said that a decision has been made to award RSD 10,000 for each child, from newborn to those 16 years old.
He also announced that from tomorrow another 100,000 tourist vouchers of RSD 5,000 each will be offered because the desire is for our citizens to spend the summer and winter in Serbia, noting that in the first three months, Serbia recorded a 40% increase in income from tourism.
Vucic rejected the possibility of forming a transitional government and added that as the President of the Republic, he would wait for the representatives of the political parties to whom he had invited to come to the meeting.
Brnabic pointed out that she has tried to do her job in the best way, adding that the members of the government also did their best to achieve results they can be proud of.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the results are clear and that Serbia has never progressed like this, stressing that one of its greatest legacies is electronic administration.
She pointed out once again that the tragedies and monstrous crimes that happened on 3 and 4 May shocked and profoundly affected and changed everyone.
The Prime Minister emphasised that the government and the President of Serbia worked together and that after the tragedies, measures were adopted to make children safer, as well as the whole society.
According to her, in addition to the disarmament of Serbia, a decision was made to employ an additional 1,200 police officers who will take care of security in schools, and there are also changes to the Criminal Code, as well as the formation of a Working Group for mental health and the fight against peer violence.
A Draft Law Amending the Law on Arms and Ammunition has been prepared, which foresees a two-year moratorium on the possession and carrying of short firearms and hunting weapons, and we will soon send that bill to the Assembly, Brnabic said.
Also, as she added, on 5 May, the Ministry of the Interior started to review all issued permits for weapons, and to date the Police Department has completed 32,584 reviews of issued permits, and this work must be completed by 4 August.
The Prime Minister said that the decision on whether to extend the deadline for handing over weapons will be made soon.
Brnabic said that she is always ready to resign, but added that at a time when society is in crisis, the only way out is a conversation.
I believe that the way out of the crisis is the parliamentary election by the end of the year, and this will be up to the President of the Republic to make such a decision, she explained.
The Prime Minister recalled that the President of Serbia invited the opposition to talks 12 days ago, but that none of their representatives responded.
Certain parties and politicians from the opposition politicised and misused the tragedies and organised protests with purely political demands, the Prime Minister added.
