NIS to donate €60m for socially important projects

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali and Chief Executive Officer of NIS j.s.c. Novi Sad Kirill Tyurdenev signed a donation agreement today, which foresees that this company will provide €60 million to support projects of the government of Serbia in the field of education, social and health care.

On behalf of the government, Mali expressed his gratitude for the donation and his satisfaction with the fact that these funds will be used to support projects in areas that are of great importance for the progress and further development of society.

We are very grateful to the NIS company for showing social responsibility and for deciding to donate money for projects that will benefit all citizens of Serbia after achieving excellent business results last year, said the Minister.

He pointed out that all the companies that operate in Serbia and make profit here are aware of the fact that their role in our overall economic environment is significant, but also that it is important for citizens to see that companies care for the development of our society.

We achieve this by investing in society, in projects like this, which our citizens know how to appreciate. The responsibility of a company is expressed in this way, by investing in the community, by participating in efforts to create better conditions for the life and work of the most sensitive categories of our society, said Mali.

He also said that, according to the contract signed today at the Ministry of Finance, the said funds will be paid by 30 May, in dinar equivalent.

Tyurdenev said that this company is a leader in socially responsible business and that they are proud of the fact that the citizens of Serbia have great trust in NIS.

We have been supporting young talent for years, investing in education, healthcare and social welfare institutions, investing in ecology, sports, and culture. Behind us are numerous successfully implemented projects that have improved the lives of our fellow citizens. Now, in cooperation with partners from the Government, we are taking a new step towards achieving a common goal - supporting projects that are important for the citizens of Serbia, said the Chief Executive Officer of NIS j.s.c. Novi Sad.
