According to her, from the moment the accident happened in Pirot, when a tank with ammonia overturned, the state inspectors have been in contact with the Staff for Emergency Situations and the Ministry of the Interior, and all the resources of that ministry have been made available to this city.
Vujovic said that the Institute of Metallurgy in Bor was engaged, which performs certain measurements, and that the Ministry urgently sent an automatic measuring station to the industrial zone in Pirot, which has been measuring the level of ammonia in the air since yesterday at 8 pm.
The Minister stated that the first results were received this morning at eight o'clock, which show values lower than the limit, announcing that the measurement of air quality will continue.
According to Vujovic, the Environmental Protection Agency also measured water quality and samples were taken from two locations in Nisava, with the first having a quality of the second category out of a total of five, which is more than satisfactory.
Vujovic stated that at the second location in Nisava, the quality is slightly worse and that it is counted as the third category, adding that four more measurements will be performed today.
Our inspectors will take soil samples when the wagons are removed and the location is safe and accessible, said the minister.
Mayor of Pirot Vladan Vasic said that the state of emergency will not be lifted in that city, until the tanks and wagons are removed from the scene of the incident, which is expected in the coming days.
