The Veterinary Directorate, the Serbian Ministry of Health and the Customs Administration representatives agreed at a meeting today on the necessity of introducing stricter measures of control of passengers, luggage and vehicles coming from Turkey on all border crossings in the country.
According to the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, at today's meeting dedicated to the issue of avian flu emergence in Turkey and the possibility of bringing the virus in Serbia through poultry products found in the personal luggage of passengers coming from Turkey, the participants in the meeting decided to put a ban on poultry meat, eggs and other poultry products entering the country. These products will be seized and innocuously disposed of.
The participants in today's meeting made an appeal to the public and passengers from Turkey not to bring any poultry products into the country, because they will be seized and disposed of.
