The government of the Republic of Serbia and the management of Stellantis met again to confirm what had already been agreed during the previous talks regarding the transformation phase.
The goal was to define the next steps in the transformation of the factory in Kragujevac, which in this phase means, as an item of great importance, the proposed temporary relocation abroad and the consequent launch of activities to install a new electric platform in the factory for compact vehicles from mid-2024.
Regarding the transformation plan, Stellantis has improved its overseas work programme (over a period of 18 to 24 months) as follows:
• Confirmed commitment of Stellantis to guarantee jobs to FCA Serbia employees who will spend a period abroad after returning to Serbia
• The same conditions for work abroad as for FCA Serbia will apply to FCA Plastika, FAS Free Zone, FAS Academy
• Bonus for support to employees for work abroad will be paid in two instalments, most of the amount before departure, and lower after return to Serbia, e.g. for Slovakia: 11,000 euros will be paid in advance, and the workers will receive a bonus of 6,000 euros when they return to Serbia
• enabling employees to have at least three break periods during the year so that they can return to Serbia
• enabling employees and their families to meet periodically, by organising regular bus lines from Kragujevac to factories abroad
• Workers' families will have health insurance
• protection of vulnerable categories and women:
- women on maternity leave
- mothers with children who need special care
- single parents of minor children (widowers/widows)
- mothers with children up to 5 years
- women in the process of in vitro fertilisation
- persons with severe disabilities
The government of the Republic of Serbia and Stellantis now really believe that the package for work abroad is designed to support FCA Serbia employees, ensuring the implementation of a new project, improving their professional skills and gaining important experience to support new production starts in Serbia.
The two sides expect great interest from employees to submit offers for work abroad by Monday, when the application process will be completed.
Prime Minister Ana Brnabic pointed out that it was very important for the government of Serbia to remove all doubts when it comes to the conditions of the programme.
Stellantis confirmed that they will respect what we asked of them when it comes to protected categories such as pregnant women, women with children under the age of five, people with disabilities, women in the process of in vitro fertilisation, she said.
The Prime Minister emphasised that this was reaffirmed at today's meeting, noting that this is a very important project for our country.
Stellantis Global Production Director Arnaud Deboeuf and Stellantis Global Corporate Office Director and FCA Serbia Director Silvia Vernetti Blina agreed that Serbia will play a key role in implementing Stellantis' Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan and that this is a clear long-term commitment to this state.
Stellantis invites all workers to apply for this programme, which will enable them to develop professionally to work on electric cars. We want the workers in Serbia to know that we are seriously counting on them, that they are the ones who will produce a new model of electric car that will be made in Kragujevac, and that they are an important part of the great Stellantis family.
