Serbia recognised as significant investment, tourist destination

Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications and Commissioner General of Serbia for "EXPO 2020 - Dubai" Tatjana Matic said today that participation in this event enabled Serbia to present its potential. develop business networks, raise its reputation and work to further strengthen its partnership with the UAE.

Matic said that, after six months of the biggest event on the planet, the World Exhibition in Dubai, where 192 countries presented the greatest minds and innovations of today, "EXPO 2020 - Dubai" officially closes today.

According to her, more than 10,000 business contacts were made, and numerous innovations were presented, due to which Serbia became the topic of a large number of world and domestic media.

The greatest economic, technological, investment, tourist and cultural potentials of Serbia were presented in Dubai, and our country conquered the world and the world media public with achievements and innovations, primarily from the sector of creative industries, state-of-the-art technologies and cutting-edge science, under the modern brand "Serbia Creates".

The most important presented innovations are Metahuman – virtual revival of prehistoric man from Lepenski vir, the first gaming village in Serbia, Serbia's Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, top VR technologies, blockchain and fintech technologies, digital agriculture, but also numerous creative and cultural events in the spirit of modern tradition.

Ana Ilic, Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister of Serbia for Creative Industries and Tourism, who leads the team of the "Serbia Creates" platform, pointed out that the records of previous representations of Serbia at world exhibitions have been exceeded and new standards of our international presentation set.

The presentation of Serbia is symbolically inspired by the revolutionary Neolithic Vinca culture, which is more than 7,000 years old. The whole performance connected the legacy of Vinca culture with digitally advanced, modern Serbia and provided the possibility of a virtual journey through different realities, different time periods, and through different spaces.

Within the business programme implemented by the Government of Serbia, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Serbian Development Agency, during the nine thematic weeks in Dubai, more than 1,200 businessmen from our country presented more than 10,000 business contacts with potential partners from more than 100 countries.

Five investment conferences were held, which gathered more than 400 investors from all over the world, more than 40 contracts and pre-contracts were signed, and more than 20 companies from Serbia are preparing to start business in the UAE and the Middle East.
