Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic met today with Austrian Ambassador to Serbia Nikolaus Lutterotti, who is finishing his mandate in Serbia soon.
Selakovic stated that the overall relations between Serbia and Austria are very good, developed and stable, to which regular meetings of top officials of the two states contribute to a large degree.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs referred to last week’s visit of Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer to Belgrade and pointed out that it showed that Serbia and the Western Balkans are the focus of Austria’s foreign policy.
He used this opportunity to send an invitation to Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Schallenberg to visit Serbia after the upcoming elections.
Selakovic said that, in addition to exceptional political relations, Serbia is dedicated to continuous strengthening of economic cooperation with Austria.
The Minister pointed out with pleasure that Austria is one of Serbia’s leading economic partners, but also one of the largest investors, with investments worth €2.585 billion.
Selakovic thanked the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the assistance in organising polling stations for the voting of the Serbian diaspora in Austria at the elections scheduled for 3 April, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
