Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met today with Belgrade Archbishop Stanislav Hocevar. At the meeting, Kostunica expressed satisfaction with the present state of the relationship between religious communities in Serbia.
Kostunica stressed the role of understanding, respect, dialogue and tolerance in the process of democratisation of Serbian society and pointed out the Serbian government’s commitment to full and efficient cooperation with churches and religious communities in the country.
Belgrade’s Archbishop placed special emphasis on the highly beneficial cooperation that the Catholic Church has with the Serbian Orthodox Church, as well as with representatives of other churches and religious communities in the country.
Hocevar recalled that this is the jubilee year for the Belgrade Archbishopric, which celebrates 80 years of its existence. He added that representatives of all religious communities should cherish dialogue and cooperation.
The meeting between Kostunica and Hocevar was also attended by Serbian Minister of Religion Milan Radulovic.
