Belgrade/Novi Pazar, Nov 25, 2005 –Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said on the occasion of his visit today to Novi Pazar that in the plan for the equal development of the republic, one of the priorities is Sandzak, a region which binds Serbia-Montenegro together and gives meaning to community life in the state-union.
Kostunica, in the company of Serbian Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic, Serbian Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo and president of the municipality of Novi Pazar Sulejman Ugljanin, by symbolically using the first spade of concrete, opened work on construction of a 5.5 kilometre long ring road around the city, which is being financed by the local self-government and the Republic of Serbia.
Kostunica said following talks with Ugljanin that if any one needs a ring road, it is Novi Pazar. He went on to say that these days a lot of investment is being made in infrastructure and telecommunication, adding that investment will continue, because the strength of the country lays in the strength of all its parts.
According to Kostunica, in the Novi Pazar area the idea is clearly being outlined that every one lives together regardless of religious or national identity.
Kostunica said that it is necessary to make sure what else needs to be invested in the development of the region, because if it begins to progress, the entire country will march forward.
Earlier today Kostunica inaugurated a ring road around the Zica monastery near Kraljevo which is 1.2 kilometres long, and was financed by the Serbian government.
Serbian Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic explained to the journalists present at the inauguration ceremony that it has been constructed in the framework of preparations for celebrations that will mark 800 years of the monastery.
Ilic said that the construction of this ring road and the consequent rerouting of traffic will help to protect the Zica monastery.
