Lloveras stressed that significant progress has been made in the EU integration process, legislation, reformation of the judiciary and banking sectors, as well as in the functioning of institutions and the rule of law, but he also pointed out the necessity of full respect of the Constitutional Charter.
Lloveras put particular emphasis on the need for continuing the fight against corruption and said that the report noted the progress in the area of minority rights protection, as well as the need for complying with European standards in this area.
Kostunica said that a significant advancement has been made in the sector of legislation, and that Serbian laws are now in line with the EU, stressing his government’s full commitment to European integration and its complete devotion to the soonest possible signing of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU.
The Prime Minister also stressed the government’s commitment to the rule of law, respect of the national minority and human rights, recovery of the economy and greater inflow of foreign investment, as well as reduction of the unemployment rate.
Kostunica recalled that the talks on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija lie ahead and once again expressed his conviction in the respect of international law, UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and inviolability of sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, which is the core principle of the international law.
The Prime Minister pointed out once again the danger of imposing a solution to the Kosovo issue, which at that point stops being a solution at all, and stressed the necessity of finding a compromise, permanent solution to Kosovo-Metohija in the form of essential autonomy, taking into consideration peace and stability in the region.
