Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic underlined today during the talks with new Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Emmanuel Jofre that the EU membership is an absolute foreign policy priority and a strategic commitment of our country.
Selakovic stated that Serbia remains fully committed to the reform process and it remains open to the continuation of cooperation with the EU, its institutions and the member states, and to an intensive work aimed at speeding up the negotiation process.
The Minister reiterated that Serbia is committed to regional cooperation, preservation of stability and security, and diplomatic resolution of open issues.
Speaking about the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, he pointed out that dialogue and compromise are key to reaching a sustainable agreement, but he also reminded that Pristina persistently does not fulfil its obligations under the Brussels Agreement and does not enable the establishment of the Community of Serbian Municipalities.
Selakovic pointed out that it is necessary for Pristina to start implementing all the agreements reached and underlined that Serbia expects the EU, as the guarantor of the Brussels Agreement, to firmly insist on that.
The Minister recalled that the EU has been the most important foreign trade partner of our country for more than two decades, noting that the assistance that Serbia received from the EU is key to our reform process.
