State Secretary of the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Danilo Golubovic talked today with Minister of Agriculture of Republika Srpska Goran Perkovic about improvement of relations and cooperation between the two ministries and the elimination of current obstacles to the trade in agricultural and food products.
Golubovic said that it is necessary that the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina declare null and void its decision to temporarily suspend the application of a zero tariff rate on agricultural and food products coming from Serbia.
The two officials discussed the need for quicker flow of agricultural and food products at border crossings, especially at the Pavloviceva Cuprija crossing.
Golubovic and Perkovic also touched on the issue of collection of excises on the import of cigarettes to Serbia, and the possibilities in which the excises would not be charged were also presented.
Perkovic said that it is necessary to increase veterinary and inspection control of competent bodies to suppress as much as possible the smuggling of livestock from Serbia to Republika Srpska.
He invited all interested firms and companies in Serbia to take a more active role in the privatisation of agricultural companies in Republika Srpska, adding that that would significantly improve trade in agricultural and food products between the two countries.
